Christian Brothers Academy Swimming continued its reign of dominance over the Shore Conference for an unprecedented 34th consecutive year.

On January 30, the Colts showcased their depth and talent, securing yet another conference title. It is a streak that has stood the test of time, reinforcing CBA’s status as one of New Jersey’s premier high school swimming programs.

The Colts came into the meet after winning an equally-impressive 34th consecutive Monmouth County Championship earlier this month. The Shore results were no different, as CBA once again proved why they are the best swim team in the area.

The Colts set a new conference record for the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:36.05. The record-setting foursome consisted of sophomore Santi Massone, senior Max Maycher, senior Alex Ruckel-Bekefi and senior Alex Madpak.

Madpak believes CBA’s success is thanks to a well-rounded roster and tight bonds as teammates.

“Being a part of such a great team and being involved in this program definitely brings a level of pressure that is not present in other swim programs around the Shore,” Madpak said. “As our coach always says, ‘pressure is a privilege.’ It's a privilege to be a part of this team and have the opportunity to keep our streak going.”

Maycher recorded two individual wins in the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke, continuing his impressive season

“This victory needed to happen,” Maycher said. “ We don’t want to lose a streak that 34 previous teams set us up with.”

Ruckel-Bekefi matched Maycher with two wins of his own, topping the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

With this team embracing the challenge, the Colts are now ready for a state tournament run. CBA will swim its first state meet on February 10 with the opponent to be announced.
