Christian Brothers Academy is pleased to announce that Patrick Reynolds has been named the new head coach of the varsity golf program.

“We are excited to have Pat lead our storied golf program into the future,” said Director of Athletics Michael Mazzaccaro ‘11. “He is a proven educator and coach, who has consistently demonstrated core principles that align with our mission at CBA. I am confident that he will build our student-athletes into not only great golfers, but even better young men.”

Reynolds is a veteran member of the CBA faculty, as well as a longtime coach for several athletic teams. He has taught physical education and health at CBA since 2008, serving as the department chairperson since 2017.

“CBA Golf has a tradition of excellence and I’m excited to work with the athletes, build on that foundation, and help guide them to new heights,” Reynolds said. “I respect the legacy that has been created here, and I am fully committed to upholding the values and success that have become synonymous with this program.”

With nearly 18 years of coaching experience, Reynolds is ready to lead this new era of CBA Golf. His ability to connect with student-athletes has been on display as head coach of the varsity bowling team, JV and freshman baseball coach, and freshman soccer coach.

His work as the head coach of CBA Bowling has led to an expansion of the program, one that now includes out-of-state team trips, alumni bowling events, and fan engagement at team matches.

As a lifelong educator and coach, Reynolds understands the importance of balance between the mental and physical aspects of golf. He is also keen on the ability to form a strong sense of team camaraderie.

“Golf is considered an individual sport, but my goal is to create a team that is selfless, supporting each other and always working toward a common goal,” he said.

Reynolds now prepares to helm one of the most successful programs in CBA Athletics history. He will be following in the footsteps of retired head coach Tim Sewnig, who won a combined 30 state and conference titles during his 30-year coaching tenure.

“It’s an incredible honor to follow in the footsteps of Tim Sewnig, who has built such a strong and successful golf program,” he said. “Tim’s dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to continue what he started.”

Reynolds is ready for the challenge and believes that the current team has unlimited potential. The 2025 season has 10 dual matches scheduled, as well as classic tournaments such as the Garden State Cup, Monmouth County, and Shore Conference.

Once those are in the books, Reynolds’ team will once again contend for sectional and state titles. The Colts have won seven consecutive Non-Public A South Sectional Championships.

“Fans should be extremely excited about the talent and potential for this year’s team,” he said. “We have a ton of depth, so expectations are high. Fans can look forward to a competitive and passionate team that will rise to any occasion and represent CBA with pride.”

CBA Golf will open its season on March 26, when the team faces Colts Neck at Hominy Hill.
