Head Varsity Basketball Coach
Christian Brothers Academy – Lincroft, NJChristian Brothers Academy (CBA), a premier all-boys college preparatory school with a rich tradition of athletic and academic excellence, is seeking a qualified, passionate, and visionary Head Varsity Basketball Coach to lead our storied program.
This position is an opportunity to build a comprehensive basketball program that challenges student-athletes to grow as competitors, leaders, and young men of character. The successful candidate will take ownership of the program’s direction, growth, and sustainability throughout the year.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Leadership (Year-Round): Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the entire basketball program, within the NJSIAA and Shore Conference rules.
Culture Building: Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for CBA’s values. Instill a culture of sportsmanship, integrity, accountability, and service in all program participants.
Varsity Coaching Duties: Plan and execute effective, fundamental-based practices; scout; develop game strategies; and guide the team through a competitive schedule.
Player Development: Support student-athletes in their athletic, academic, and character development. Encourage participation in strength & conditioning and skill development year-round.
Community Engagement & Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships within the middle school basketball community, including AAU and club coaches, trainers, and families. Attend youth games and key events, engage with prospective families, and organize on-campus clinics or open gyms to promote CBA.
Staff Management: Recruit, supervise, and mentor assistant coaches and sub-varsity coaches to ensure a consistent philosophy and approach throughout all levels of the program.
Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain accurate records (team stats, player development plans, inventory), manage team communications, and work with the Athletic Department to promote the program via media and social platforms.
Qualifications:
Previous high school or college coaching experience required; head varsity coaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead a program from youth development through varsity competition.
Strong communication and leadership skills with a passion for mentoring young men.
Proven understanding of basketball strategy, instruction, and player development best practices.
Ability to plan and manage all aspects of a competitive, high-profile program with professionalism and vision.
Willingness to be deeply involved in the CBA community and to uphold the Academy’s mission and values.
