The Christian Brothers Academy track & field team delivered a dominant performance on their home turf at the annual Colt Team Challenge on April 5.
With a powerful mix of veteran leadership and rising underclassman talent, the Colts proved why they remain one of the premier programs in the state.
CBA won the varsity, JV and freshman levels of this home event at the Sheehan Track Complex. The invitational featured teams from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
Leading the charge was senior Wyatt Falkowski, who turned in an electric winning performance to claim a New Jersey-best mark in the 1600 meter. After setting a state-best time in the 800 meter a week earlier, Falkowski has impressed early in this outdoor season.
Freshman John Clark made his presence felt in a big way, running an impressive 4:30.38 in the 1600. The performance not only shows promise for the Colts' future in distance events, but also earned him one of the fastest times in the state for a freshman this spring.
Senior Alex Mastroly also had a great 800 race despite the harsh conditions, placing second in 1:58.
In the field events, junior Cole Ryan delivered a big throw of 151-7 in the javelin to grab first place. Junior Gavin Marlin also placed first in the high jump with a 6 '0 mark.
Albert Yodakis and Cam Feiler took first and second in the discus with throws of 148-4 and 147-0. These standouts continue to rise as some of CBA’s most consistent point scorers.
With spring break on the horizon, the Colts will send 14 athletes to the Arcadia Invitational in California on April 11 and 12. Two weeks later, CBA will once again head to the prestigious Penn Relays on April 25.
