Christian Brothers Academy took the Monmouth Country Championship by storm, reaching the podium in almost every event that the team participated in.
In the 400 meter dash, Colin Burke ‘25 placed a close second with a time of 51:04, missing the top spot by just a second.
Junior Wyatt Falkowski faced a similar situation, placing second in the 800 with a time of 1:58.98.
It was in the 1600 meter run where the Colts really dominated, having a CBA runner take each of the top five spots. In first place, senior Joe Barret ran a quick 4:17, followed by senior Ryan Schmitt at 4:21, junior Luke Hnatt at 4:21, senior Alex Mastroly at 4:22, and sophomore Gavin Schmitt at 4:23.
Junior Sean Galvin represented the Colts on the podium in the 3200 meter, finishing third with a 9:49. Junior Ryan Collins was just behind him in fourth place.
In the field events, two Colts were on the podium for both the high jump and shot put.
Burke placed a strong second in the high jump, recording a 6-00.00 flat, and junior Ethan McAllister took third.
As for CBA’s throwers, senior Marcus Blassucci notched a 58-11.75 throw in the shot put for the win. Senior Albert Yodakis threw a 58-08.50 to finish second.
The Colts now look forward to the Shore Conference Championship on January 30 in Toms River, as CBA will look to capture a 29th conference title.
