Like clockwork, CBA Swimming clinched their 34th consecutive Monmouth County Championship on January 11.
The impressive streak of swimming excellence dates back to the very first year of the team's existence in 1991, continuing one of the longest championship streaks in New Jersey high school sports.
Christian Brothers scored 407 points, holding off second place Holmdel.
It was a dominant performance across the board for CBA, led by senior Max Maycher. The senior was responsible for two individual victories, as well as two winning relays. His individual wins were the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.
The Colts placed first in events such as the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.20. This relay team consisted of Santiago Massone, Maycher, Alex Ruckel-Bekefi and Matt Caraos. This relay team shattered the previous meet record by over a second which was 1:36.85 previously held by Marlboro High School in 2023.
Ruckel-Bekefi and Massone were equally as impressive, each winning two events a piece. Senior Ruckel-Bekefi took first in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, while sophomore Massone won the 100 backstroke and 100 fly.
The Colts added a victory in the 200 freestyle relay as well.
After a collection of dual meets that includes Westfield and St. Peter's Prep, CBA will aim for a 34th Shore Conference Championship on January 30.
