Christian Brothers Academy Cross Country is running on all cylinders when it matters the most.

The Colts won the two biggest meets of the season so far in impressive fashion.

On November 23, the team topped the Nike Northeast Regional by a whopping 103 points over the second place team. This dominant performance qualified the team for the Nike Cross Nationals for a 14th consecutive fall.

Senior Joe Barrett won the individual regional title by nearly 14 seconds over the next closest runner. Two more Colts joined him in the top ten: senior Ryan Schmitt in fifth and junior Luke Hnatt in eighth.

The Nike Nationals will take place on December 7 in Portland, Oregon.

One week earlier, CBA flexed its muscle as the best team in New Jersey, winning the Meet of Champions for a 27th time in program history.

The victory was notable for multiple broken records, including a MOC record 16 total team points and a Holmdel Park team course average record of 15:42.

Barrett became a two-time individual All-Groups champion with a first place time of 15:24. All five scoring runners finished in the top seven of the race with Hnatt in third, Ryan Schmitt in fourth, Alex Mastroly in fifth, and Gavin Schmitt in seventh. CBA's sixth and seventh runners were equally as impressive with Ryan Collins in 10th and Wyatt Falkowski in 14th.

"We feel that we have to win the national title to be called the best Jersey team ever,'' Barrett told Milesplit after the MOC win. "CBA won the national title in 2011 and we feel our team can win it again.''

CBA's performance at the Meet of Champions earned them the number one ranking in Milesplit's National Cross Country Top 50. The Colts had spent most of the season in the second or third spots in the rankings.

To date, CBA has won the Northeast Regional, NJ All-Groups, Non-Public A State, Manhattan Invitational, Bowdoin Classic, and Shore Conference titles during the 2024 season.
