On September 28, the CBA Cross Country marched up to Wappingers Falls, New York and absolutely dominated the team - and course - record at the Bowdoin Classic.
The Colts averaged 16 minutes even, and to put this in perspective, the Colts had all seven of their varsity runners within the top 15, which is the most-ever in Bowdoin Classic history. CBA netted just 20 points for the meet.
It is the fourth year in a row that CBA has won the race at Bowdoin.
Leading the charge was senior Joe Barrett, who ran an incredible 15:25 - the second-best overall time on the Bowdoin course, just behind DJ Principe’s 15:18 during the Nike Northeast Regional in 2016. Bowdoin Park runs about 20 seconds slower than Holmdel Park, because of sudden elevation changes and rolling hills.
After Barrett, CBA had Luke Hnatt in third, Ryan Schmitt in fourth, Alex Mastroly in fifth, Gavin Schmitt in seventh, and Wyatt Falkowski in 15th, which added up to break the team record that CBA set just last year.
In 2023, Christian Brothers recorded a team average of 16:07.8 at Bowdoin and then proceeded to break the Holmdel Park record with a 15:51. This year, the Colts shaved off almost eight entire seconds with a 16:00 flat, and will look to break the Holmdel park record once again.
The Colts are currently ranked third in the nation and will look to showcase their talent once again when they head to the Manhattan Invitational on October 13.
