The regatta schedule for CBA Sailing was slow to get underway due to poor weather, but once the Colts hit the water, they proved to be ready.
The Colts won the first weekend event of the season, the BBYRA Invitational, on September 30 at Toms River Yacht Club. It is the fifth consecutive season that CBA has won the traditional Rooster Flag trophy by winning the BBYRA Invitational.
Christian Brothers was led by Christopher Small '26, Luke Pennisi '24 and Matthew Dupree '25 in the A Division. The trio won four of their six races on the day to win their division.
CBA also topped the B Division, thanks to the combination of Cole Buczkowski '27, Kyle Lombardino '25 and Pennisi. They won two races and finished in the top five in all but one race.
The following weekend, the Colts raced in the NJISA Fall Fleet Championship, dealing with more weather condition issues. Over the course of two days, less than half of the anticipated races were completed, but CBA fought through the tough conditions to finish second overall.
The runner-up finish qualifies the team for the Mid-Atlantic District Championship for the seventh consecutive season. No other New Jersey school has matched this streak over that period of time. Overall, CBA has qualified for 17 of the last 20 District Championships.
Ahead of the District Championship in late October at St. Mary's College (MD), the Colts will also travel to Old Dominion University on October 14-15 to race in the Mid-Atlantic Team Race Championship.
