The top-ranked Christian Brothers Academy cross country team wasted no time getting a big win under their belt.
The Colts won the Bowdoin Classic by 24 points on Saturday, September 28th in Wappingers Falls, New York.
CBA beat out fellow Lasallian school, LaSalle College High School (PA), for the title, recording a five-man average of 16:47.
Senior Shaw Powell (16:12) turned in a dominating performance to win the race by six seconds over LaSalle's second place finisher. Senior Troy Hill (16:20) finished in third place to give the Colts two top runners.
Tim Cahill (11th), Nolan Cus (14th) and Ben Santos (17th) rounded out the CBA top-five.
"I didn't feel like I was forcing anything. It felt like I was running a good tempo," Powell told Milesplit.com after the race. "We went out [of the start] a little fast, but that didn't really phase me. We have been training well and we wanted to come up here to get ready for the rest of our races."
With one invitational win under their belt, CBA will look forward to the prestigious Manhattan Invitational on October 12th in New York City.
