The Christian Brothers Academy sailing team left no doubt in their league championship regatta on April 22.
The Colts won the title by 17 points over second place Southern Regional, winning seven races as a team.
Christopher Small '26 and Nicholas Cunha '23 led the way, as the duo won their first five races of the regatta. Never finishing outside of the top four in any race, Small and Cunha ultimately topped the A Division with just 14 points in eight total races.
In the B Division, Bryce Vitiello '23, Luke Pennisi '24 and Mitchell Hnatt '24 finished second, notching two race wins in their eight races. The trip never finished outside of the top five in any race.
The league championship victory is CBA's first since the fall of 2021 and sixth overall in team history. The win qualifies the Colts for the Mid-Atlantic District Championship, which will be held on May 13 and 14 on home waters in Toms River. CBA has qualified for six consecutive district championships and an outstanding 16 in their last 19 tries.
Prior to that victory, Christian Brothers had won every New Jersey-based regatta so far this spring. A week earlier, CBA topped the BBYRA Spring Invitational, winning the historic Rooster Flag for a fourth consecutive season and fifth in the last six seasons.
