The Christian Brothers Academy Sailing Team added another title to the trophy case this past weekend, winning the 2016 NJISA Spring League Championship at Toms River Yacht Club.

The Colts battled rainy, cool conditions throughout the day, outlasting ten other New Jersey schools in an 11-race series to win the championship. The Ranney School finished second, followed by Toms River North, Rumson-Fair Haven and Southern Regional.

CBA was led in A Division by Joe LaForgia '17 and Chris Magno '17, who used two first place finishes in races five and six to push the Colts' lead to double figures. Ranney closed the deficit to single-digits, but CBA managed to stave off the Panthers' comeback. LaForgia and Magno won the A Division on a tiebreaker over Toms River North.

In B Division, Mike Ehnot '18 and Mark Iorio '16 finished either first or second in nine of the 11 races on the day. They finished second in B Division behind Ranney. JP Burgess '16 and Jonathan Wilhelm '17 rounded out the CBA lineup.

Saturday's victory was the fourth consecutive league championship for the Colts. A dual-season sport, CBA won the 2014 fall title, 2015 spring & fall titles, and now the 2016 spring title. The NJISA League is comprised of 25 schools located in New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia region.

This title marked the third consecutive weekend event that CBA Sailing has emerged as winners. The Colts won the Toms River Icebreaker Regatta on March 19 and then were victorious at the SUNY Maritime College Intersectional on April 2.
