I have dedicated a great deal of time to volleyball over the last four years in preparation for my senior season.
Whether it was playing pickup beach games, the club season, or the many seasons with CBA, I have always had a great time with my friends and teammates. I have developed many new friendships that I will have forever.
I vividly remember our first few days of tryouts and how we all reacted to the COVID-19 outbreak. At first, nobody expected it to disrupt our season at all. We were talking about the upcoming season and the many goals that we had.
Within a few days, it was announced that our school was closing for at least a few weeks. My first feeling was shock. I couldn’t believe that our season was in jeopardy due to the pandemic. It was an inconceivable notion that we might not play again for CBA.
I never fully appreciated all of the little things that were a part of playing volleyball for CBA. The long hours in the gym, bus rides to games, the big wins, and even the losses,. These are all things that I miss now that our season has come to a halt. In just a few short weeks, I've realized how lucky I have been to play volleyball for CBA.
The experiences I have had, the friendships I have made, and the pride I feel when I put on my CBA volleyball uniform are all things that I will remember. Yes, this season is not what I envisioned my senior year to be, but I am blessed to have the memories. I am hopeful that I’ll put on my volleyball uniform again and play for CBA.
This has taught us all to not take anything for granted because life can change quickly and throw you curveballs. There are better times ahead and I, like most of you, am taking it one day at a time.
