With the home opener for CBA Lacrosse quickly approaching, we are getting you ready for another exciting season on the field.
2015 Recap
The Colts finished the 2015 season at 11-6, but it wasn't without some tight, coin-flip finishes. CBA lost three games in overtime, including postseason contests against Freehold Township and Don Bosco, and another game by a single goal. The Colts went on a tear late last April, winning their final five games heading into the Shore Conference Tournament by outscoring their opponents 69-15.
Returning to the Field
CBA looks poised to contend in the Shore this season, as they return their top four scorers from 2015. They are led by junior attackman Nick Casner, who notched 40 goals and 40 assists on his way to being named first team All-Shore in 2015. He is joined by senior attackman Shay Walczak, who recorded 31 goals and 12 assists last season.
Senior captain John Salcedo leads the midfielders, after netting 17 goals and adding 13 assists in 2015. Salcedo has committed to play Division I lacrosse at Bucknell University next year. Seniors Gordon Paul and Andrew Rooney join Salcedo as team captains.
Sophomore Michael Carroll burst onto the scene last season, leading CBA with 44 goals in his freshman campaign.
Casner & Carroll Named APP "Players to Watch"
Nick Casner and Michael Carroll were named Asbury Park Press' "Players to Watch" in 2016.
CBA's leading point scorer in 2015, Casner is a two-year starter with the Colts and currently sits 13th on the all-time scoring list. Meanwhile, Carroll was a freshman sensation last year, leading the team in goals and earning an APP All-Shore third team selection.
