After another campaign that saw Christian Brothers Academy Hockey ranked top-five in the state, multiple players received post-season honors this past week.
Senior Derek Contessa earned a spot on the NJ.com non-public second team. Contessa, who joined the 100-point career scoring club this season, was also chosen for the second team all-Gordon Conference and NJ.com all-state third team. For his five goals in the state tournament, Contessa received a nod on the New Jersey Devils all-tournament team in the non-public division.
Senior Corey Clifton was selected to the NJ.com non-public third team. Clifton recorded 23 points this season, which also earned him second team all-Gordon Conference.
John D'Aniello and Sam Weber were both named honorable mention players in the Gordon Conference as well.
Among Shore opponents, Dean DiFazio was named to the Asbury Park Press' all-junior first team.
Showing that the future is also bright, Kyle Contessa, Will Hilfiker and Chad Schneider were selected by the Asbury Park Press as members of their all-freshmen team in the Shore Conference.
Christian Brothers finished the season with a 16-5-4 record, advancing to the non-public state tournament semifinals for the 11th straight time. They were also the only team this season to defeat Delbarton, who went on to win the state title, and finished undefeated against Shore opponents. The Colts were ranked fourth by NJ.com in their final poll of the season.
