The Christian Brothers Academy wrestling team took multiple podium spots at the 2017 District 24 Championship on Saturday at Freehold Township High School.

Senior Nick Schutzenhofer (106 lbs), junior Richie Koehler (113 lbs), junior Christian Recantini (145 lbs) and junior Sam Houston (182 lbs) each won their weight class. Schutzenhofer, Koehler and Recantini were all top seeds in their classes, while Houston was the second seed.

Junior Cameron DiGiorgio advanced to the finals in the 195-pound division and finished second. Sophomore Sam LaCorte (126 lbs), freshman Ethan Diamond (138 lbs), sophomore Derek Smith (160 lbs) and senior Ryan McGuiness (170 lbs) each finished third in their weight class.

District 24 is composed of Christian Brothers, Freehold Township, Hamilton West, Monmouth, Notre Dame, Nottingham, Ocean Township, Red Bank Catholic, Shore Regional and Willingboro.

All CBA wrestlers who finished in the top three have qualified for the Region 6 Championship, held at Brick Memorial beginning on February 22nd.
