David Cutler, a junior on the varsity fencing team, placed third in a foil competition held on October 25th at the Freehold Fencing Academy.
One of the hardest workers on the team, Cutler entered the tournament with an "E" rating. He eliminated a "B" rated fencer, and with a field of 20 competitors, his third place finish upped his rating to the "C" level. Nine fencers were rated higher than Cutler entering the tournament.
Fencers are given a rating based on both personal experience and results and is swayed by number of fencers in a given competition and a fencer's standing in tournaments. The top rating is an "A" and the initial rating is a "U" rating.
The CBA fencing season begins after Christmas and the team runs a packed schedule through February.
