CBA Hockey will face the Delbarton School on Monday at the Prudential Center in Newark for the Non-Public State Championship. Puck drop will be at 4:30 p.m. This is the third consecutive trip to the Non-Public Final for the Colts. CBA was declared co-champs with Morristown-Beard School in 2014 and won the title outright in 2015 by beating Delbarton, 4-3, in overtime. CBA has won seven state championships in school history.

It will be a familiar matchup for the Colts on Monday afternoon, as it will be the fourth meeting of the season between CBA and Delbarton. They most recently faced off in the Gordon Cup Finals, where CBA used a hat-trick effort by junior Derek Contessa to down the Green Wave, 3-1. It was the Colts first conference championship since 2013 and eighth Gordon Cup overall.

The Colts advanced to the state championship in dramatic fashion, beating Don Bosco Prep in overtime, 2-1, on a goal by senior captain Ryan Bogan, Jr. Bogan, a defenseman, is the reigning NJ.com Player of the Year. CBA will send 10 seniors out on the ice for their final game in a Colts uniform. Led by Bogan, the seniors include all-state goalie Michael Cernero, Anthony Cucich, John Downey, Christopher Hayes, Joseph Marsicano, Mitchell Shafer, James Stanger, co-captain James Timko and Cristian Winters.

Christian Brothers will look for Contessa, who has scored 19 goals and added 13 assists, to lead their offense, while Bogan anchors the defense in front of Cernero, who has an impressive 0.92 save percentage on the season.

Tickets will go on sale at the Prudential Center beginning at 3:30 p.m. There is no pre-sale for tickets. MSGVarsity.com will be streaming the game live on their website. You can also follow the game on the CBA Athletics Twitter account (@CBAColts).
